How to manage gastric issues by dietary modifications?

Gastric issues can’t be treated by dietary management but somehow it can be managed properly by proper use of selection of food groups.

There is a list of which food groups one should use and which food groups, one should ignore.


Cereals

Foods to be used

Always try to use whole wheat flour, multigrain flour, once your condition gets better, otherwise one can also use white bread.

 Oats and MUSELI are best to be used with yogurt.

 Brown rice are best to be used.

Foods to be ignored 

White flour chapatti is not a healthy choice. 

Try to not use pasta, spaghetti, biscuits, macaroni etc. 

Minimize use of rice because they are rich in carbohydrates



Fruits

Foods to be used

One can use fruits and fruit juices without any hesitation,

Fruit juices can be used in the form of sports drinks.

Foods to be ignored 

Try to minimize use of fructose enriched fruits early in the morning or immediately before and after exercise because they add bloating issues.


Vegetables

Foods to be used

Vegetables are the most healthiest choice for such patients, One can use vegetable in the form of juice or in the form of salad with sprinkled black cumin.

Ash gourd juice, and cucumber juice etc. are best for such patients.

Foods to be ignored 

Such vegetables should not be used who are in fried form

i.e. fries, pakoras etc.

Dairy 

Foods to be used

Go for reduced fat milk

Not go for more than 1-2 dairy products daily.

Foods to be ignored 

Coffee, black tea, chocolate, smoothies, cheese cakes, lotus cakes etc. with high caffeine, cream cheese and fats should not be used.

Always replace high fat milk with reduced or skimmed milk.


Meat/meat products

Foods to be used

Some people have severe issues with meat and meat products, so go for low biological value meat products i.e. chicken, fish gram seeds, chickpeas etc., if one can digest it.

Foods to be ignored

Don’t use high biological value meat products.

I.e. mutton, beef and egg early in the morning.

Sweet products

Foods to be used

Try to use natural sweet products. i.e. sugar cane juice etc. 

Foods to be ignored

Don’t go for bakery sweetened products because they increase bloating issues.

Oils/fats

Foods to be used

Omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are recommended.

Oils are also recommended such as olive oil, coconut oil, soya oil, almond oil.

Foods to be ignored

Insoluble fibers are not recommended in earlier stage but with passage of time, one can use it,

One can mix soaked basal seeds and haspagol mixed with fresh yogurt and brown sugar. (This is the best treatment for patients with GI issues.)

Others

Foods to be used

Always try to use QEHWA of fennel seeds early in the morning because it makes your gut so healthy and nourished.

Stress is the most important factor which trigger gut issues, always try to be relaxed especially before sleeping.

Coffee and tea should not be used early in the morning.

 Foods to be ignored

 Keep yourself away from any stress, depression. or you can consult your psychiatrist.
